Eat Drink Bristol Fashion and Bristol Food Connections have already been and gone for 2015, but have no fear: there’s still plenty more to sink your teeth into this summer when it comes to celebrating food and drink.
Bristol has a brilliant food scene all year round, but it really hots in summer as a host of delicious festivals descend upon the city.
Here are some to food-and-drink events to keep your beady eye out for…
When? 18-20 June
Where? Anchor Square
Why go? Because there’ll be Aperol Spritz! This ever-popular aperitif is stopping off in Bristol as part of its countrywide tour to ‘turn the UK orange’. Stop by the pop-up after work to catch up with friends over a glass (or two) or Aperol’s sparkling 3-2-1 Spritz serve. There’ll also be an Instaprint booth and ping-pong and foosball tables.
When? 26-28 June
Where? The Downs
Why go? Because there’s something for all the family: they’ve got top chefs showing off their skills in the Chef’s Theatre (full line-up to be announced soon); cocktails, beer and wine in the Drinks Theatre; and a Children’s Cookery Theatre for the kids.
When? 1-7 July
Where? Queen’s Square
Why go? For five nights in July, the Bristol Comedy Garden will feature top-class comedy acts, including the likes of Katherine Ryan, Sean Lock and Seann Walsh. There’ll also be some top-notch grub on the go – expect plenty of award-winning street food. Plus, of course, there’ll be lots of Magners to wash it all down with.
When? 11-12 July
Why go? Because there’ll be heaps of Grillstock’s famous meaty barbecue fare ‘n’ fixin’s, plus a giant side of music and pints upon pints of craft ale. This might just be the hottest ticket of the summer.
When? 17-19 July
Why go? In addition to lots of on-water activity, music and circus performances, a variety of food stalls will be on hand to provide an abundance of tasty food and drink for you to tuck into as you enjoy Bristol’s vibrant Harbourside. Oh, and it’s completely free, to enter, too (some shows and performance will incur a charge).
